So it turned out not be allergies

I have a cold.

Whenever I get sniffly, I think--ah, it's just my allergies. And usually it is. But not this time. I'm coughin', hackin' and snifflin' away over here.

When I talked to Ashleigh earlier she asked what I was doing and I told her I had a tissue stuck up my nose. I know.

I started taking Airborne yesterday, but today I had to break out the big guns and take DayQuil. I hate that stuff, but it works. And I need to be better fast, because my sweet Troysie is supposed to come and stay a few days with us. We have big plans and a sick Grammie is not one of them.

The DayQuil makes me a little fuzzy-headed, so if this post doesn't make a lick of sense, don't hold it against me, ok? Thanks. : )

Anyway...we had a very nice Thanksgiving in Alabama. It was amazing how few people were flying this holiday. The airports were actually less crowded than we've ever seen them and neither of our flights were full. I'm not complaining--it was nice.

My cousin and his family drove in from Ohio and we had a friend from our church here in California drive in from Mississippi for the holiday. Our friend (Greg) is a First Lieutenant in the Air Force and he just completed his pilot training course. It was such a blessing having him join us.

I know I always say it, but it's true. So much of what we love about our trips to Alabama is the food. It's all about the food!

Thanksgiving morning and golden, fluffy biscuits....

And sausage cooked in my mom's 50+ year old iron skillet. That thing is seasoned to perfection! You live in the south--you must have an iron skillet.

This is my Aunt Pat. Thanksgiving dinner was at her house. And that's my sweet hubby in Aunt Pat's kitchen--getting ready to carve the turkey.

Lots of delicious food...

That's my cousin Rick talking to Rande while the youngins get their food.

Here are the youngins--Greg, Byron, Lizzie and Zach. And even though they are ages 24-15 respectively and one of them is a 1st Lieutenant, they are still youngins and had to sit at the youngin's table. : )

I can't believe I didn't get a picture of my Aunt Pat's beautiful table setting. I guess I was too busy scarfing down her sweet potato casserole and corn bread stuffing. Trust me though--it was so pretty!

After dinner, we broke out the Wii and watched Greg beat everybody in tennis. We also talked to Ashleigh and the rest of our California family via the webcam. Isn't technology amazing?! Oh...and we ate pie. Pumpkin and Chocolate Chess. Dee-lish!

The next morning we met up at Cracker Barrel for breakfast with our good friends, the Evans family. Hannah Beth and John Mac were such troopers for sitting in the Alabama rocking chairs--considering they are Auburn fans. (I hope you still love us even though we won on Saturday. Roll Tide!)

Aww, here is Greg and I. His mama is one of my very good friends and I know she was comforted to know that if her baby boy wasn't going to be home for Thanksgiving, at least he'd be with people who love him. And we do! : )

On Friday night we decorated my mom's Christmas tree. She decided she only wanted the silver ornaments on this year.

My mom is very particular about the way things are done, so I had get behind the Christmas tree to make sure the tree skirt was just so. But then I got trapped. : )

Don't do it, Zach! Who does that kid belong to anyway?!! Where are his parents?!

We had a wonderful time... and while it's always good to be home, I'm missing my Alabama family and friends. Lord willing, we'll be back soon. : )

I loved reading about how your Thanksgiving in the South was!!

Why is it that that picture of you trapped behind your Mama's Christmas tree reminds me of Ashleigh?!?! LOL. Like mother like daughter, I suppose! :)

Hope you feel better soon so you can enjoy a visit with Troy!

Looks like you had a wonderful time! Since moving to the south, I really love those little pear salads with the mayo and cheese. We had a "Northern Thanksgiving". We have friends from Michigan who live down here too and a friend flew in from California to surprise me. Oh, I bet y'all liked seeing Georgia Tech beat Georgia too. :) I was!

Nice pictures! Why did you put that scrumptious looking sausage on there? And in an iron skillet! Everything tastes better cooked in an iron skillet!
Looks like you had such a wonderful family time.

Hope you are better real soon!

I love that picture of you behind the tree.
I think you mentioned this before, but do you guess ever talk about moving there?

I'm jealous, I'm jealous--I'm just so, so jealous. :) The food, the friends, the food, the family, the food, the fun... did I mention the food? Jealous. Very jealous.

Sounds like y'all had a lot of fun. I think it's neat that you were able to talk to Ashliegh via webcam. Those things are great!! I love mine!

Tell your mom her tree is very pretty. I love all the silver.

And I love my iron skillet, which I've had seventeen years. We had friends over for dinner a couple of years ago and she didn't know anything about them. She washed it---no, scrbbed it--- when we were cleaning the kitchen. I just about died. LOL

It looks like you all have just a wonderful time. I loved the look of your Thanksgiving. The iron skillet reminds me of mine. I have had it for 47 years and one that belonged to my mom that must be ------who know how old. They do cook the very best the older they are.

I hope you get past your cold very quickly. connie

I'm all over the Greg and Kina idea!! How could this be arranged? He has a Facebook account could we introduce them in this way?

Mishel, I sure hope you are feeling better! Loved the pictures. Funny how I was in Al and Ga with family, had a GREAT time and still got a little jealous when I saw your pictures. I'm weird. We did have a grand time, just isn't the same with out my Mama Fish.

It's been so long since you posted, dear friend. You're missed. Hope all is well and you're snuggled in the arms of our precious Lord, doing His will and loving His presence in your lives.

Is Ashleigh's site down? For some reason I can't reach it.
